Young people from across all the Dioceses of Scotland gathered to listen, reflect, discuss and socialise on Friday 4th into Saturday 5th November at the annual National Youth event run by Catholic Youth Scotland. The event was set in the beautiful surroundings of Gartmore House in Gartmore, Stirlingshire; the theme this year was Finding Life's Purpose and there were workshops, talks as well as prayer during the event. Cardinal O'Brien gave an inspiring talk on the varous ways in which Christian's are called to live their lives, whether that be as single, professed, ordained or married people within the Church. There was a "Vocations panel" with representation from each of these different ways of living. The young people who attended the event were able to reflect on what was said in the various styles of prayer, as well as discuss with each other what "Finding life's purpose" means for them. A creative workshop on being Catholic in the 21st Century brought together all these ideas. The whole event concluded with Mass, with Cardinal O'Brien as the main celebrant. Overall it was a an extremely worthwhile experience for everyone who attended! Add Comment CYSS meet in Diocese of Galloway 10/04/2011

CYSS launches YouCat in Scotland! 07/22/2011
Please click on the photo below for an article and more photos about the launch of YouCat, the catechism for young people. We hosted a very successful Youth Ministry Forum on Monday 16th May in the Xavier Centre, Carfin Grotto. A broad range of religious congregations, movements and organisations joined us for a day of prayer and reflection as we sought to get to know one another and to examine our experiences of working with young people in the Church in Scotland. Our president, Cardinal O'Brien, encouraged us to continue our efforts to engage young people in the life of the Church. He presided over the launch of "YouCat", the new catechism for young people, published by the Catholic Truth Society. Mass was celebrated by the Cardinal in St Francis Xavier Church as the central part of the day and the participants continued their spiritual reflections in the afternoon, with a period of lectio divina. Photos and further information will follow shortly. CYSS meeting 03/17/2011
